Dr. Schiepers’ research interest involves metabolic imaging in oncology, focused on glucose utilization of tumors in-vivo. He studies the role of PET and PET/CT in staging of cancer and monitoring of therapy and applies kinetic modeling for quantification of tracers in-vivo, e.g. F-18 FDG, F- 18 DOPA, O-15 Water, C-11 Acetate. Specifically, he investigates bone blood flow and fluoride influx rate with F-18 Fluoride in osteoporosis and osteonecrosis.
